First 4 Scuba Ltd was started in 2004 by PADI Instructor Colin McBride. The business was initially run only on a part time basis with training being scheduled for Colin’s spare time. Scuba shop sales where on a very small scale in beginning with most gear supplied to his students. Over the next few years First 4 Scuba grew from strength to strength. Word of mouth was the key driver to this success with both training courses and equipment sales in ever greater demand. First 4 Scuba was very quick to begin to sell and distribute its premier diving equipment worldwide via its online shop. First 4 Scuba also grew a very active and dedicated dive club, with a focus on delivering ongoing dive trips, expeditions, training and general fun for the growing ranks of trained divers within the South East of Ireland. The club organises diving on a weekly basis during the months March to October as well as weekends away and international dive holidays. In January 2008 Colin moved the business to Arklow's Main Street with a new refitted premises and an expanded range of quality suppliers.
First 4 Scuba now employs 3 instructors, 6 dive-masters and a number of full and part time shop staff. First 4 Scuba is now expanding even further through the provision of a Dive Academy in association with Hotel Kilkenny in Kilkenny and the Ferrycarrig Hotel in Wexford... First 4 Scuba now offers 3 separate dive training locations within the south east of ireland. To find out more please go to our Dive Academy page. The backbone of any successful organisation is its people and First 4 Scuba is no exception. | | Michael Kinsella [PADI Divemaster]
Michael has been working with Colin since 2003 and is a hugely knowledgeable diver and dive-master. He is ready to do his Instructor Exams and will be doing them in 2010 in Malta. He loves to dive and is especially happy on any kind of wreck. He is a superb dive-master and loves to help out when he can. His wife has recently had a baby but hopefully we will be seeing more of him in 2010!
|
| Martin Johnston [PADI Divemaster]
Wing Nut as he is more affectionately known (by Colin) is an avid wreck diver and loves to delve into the history of wrecks he dives. He has just recently become a dive-master after a prolonged training period brought on by his unwillingness to want to pay for any dives. He is a very helpful dive-master and is always around to help out on courses in the pool and open water and trips away. |
| Damien Joyce [PADI Divemaster]
Damien is our underwater photography expert and he along with his long time buddy Chris Jones are in our opinion among the best amateur underwater photographers around. Damien lives too far away from Arklow to participate in local dives very often but he runs the photo workshops for First 4 Scuba and you will find him on most of our trips away - at least you did before his planned marriage in 2010. We shall have to see how that affects him this year. |
| Conor McGrath [PADI Divemaster]
Conor is one of our Wexford based Dive-masters and has been diving with Colin since 2004 when Colin was based in Kilmore Quay. He is an excellent diver and is always around to help newer divers along. Loves the trips away and is an alomst ever-present on the weekends and holidays. |
| Wayne Murphy [PADI Divemaster]
Another of our Wexford based divemasters, Wayne is very good with the students and is so helpfull some of them think he is the Instructor! Always willing to help out on the dives in the Hook Area and is very knowledgeable about the area and diving in general. |
