The First 4 Scuba "Dive Club" is the place to be if you are interested in continuing to dive beyond the occassional personal holiday abroad. Started back in 2004 with only a few members this club has grown to around 40 active divers in 2009. The club is small, experienced, helpful and above all a great group to go diving with. Meeting people and making new friends is all part of the diving experience and with trips at home and abroad to whet your appetite for diving nearly all year round, there really is nothing more you could ask for. Just one thing - we hate club politics - and luckily for you and everyone else in this club we avoid the usual club quagmires by ignoring the roles of "presidents", "chairman" and "treasurer" etc. We are here because we want to dive... not shuffle paper and take minutes of meetings. Thankfully the Dive Shop staff step in and organise the various events in line with the overall wishes of the club members. It works! So what do you get for being a member of this fantastic club I hear you ask...
- First 4 Scuba Club Forum:
As a club member you also gain access to our private and very active diving knowledge base via our online forum. This is an excellent resource where the club shares information, organises dives and generally keeps everyone in touch with each other. There is a "new to diving" section as well as plenty of topics for the more experienced diver. NOTE: When you are registering on the forum please use your regular name for registration as otherwise we will not know if your account is spam or not and we may not activate the account. Once you register an administrator will verify your account and activate it.
- Day Diving:
We are all here to go diving! So we keep ourselves sharp with local diving around Hook Head, Kilmore Quay, Wicklow Head and Dublin Bay. These dives are essential for keeping your skills up to date, gaining experience and most importantly for having fun. We also arrange day trips to places like Dungarvin and Strangeford Lough in order to visit some very nice wrecks! On a fine day local sites like Hook Head and Kilmore Quay can yield spectacular diving. NOTE: All First 4 Scuba dives are organised for every diver to have one or more dive buddy/ies we do not facilitate "solo" diving. If you do not have a buddy - no problem we will arrange this before you get in the water... thats what friends are for! - Weekend Trips Away:
Every year we organise around 6 weekends away to key dive locations in Ireland, places like Baltimore (Cork), Kilkee (Clare), Killaree (Galway), Carrigart (Donegal), Ballycastle (Antrim), Dungarvin (Waterford). They are a great way to get your diving experience up and through interacting with other club members you get to share great diving stories, see the latest in equipment configurations, pick up tips and tricks as well as making new friends and dive buddies. During our weekend trips it can arranged for one or two of our instructors to facilitate divers continuing education by conducting Advanced Open water dives or providing speciality training such as Deep, Wreck, Navigation, Search & Recovery to name a few. Such courses can be arranged through the dive shop for club members.
- Holidays Away:
Every year we normally organise 2 dive holidays abroad to places like Malta, the Red Sea (Egypt), Scapa Flow (Scotland), Truk Lagoon, Teneriffe, Italy, Mexico, Florida etc. These trips are always brilliant fun and excellent value for money with stunning dive experiences on offer to all those willing to goin in on the adventure. These trips form the backbone of our dive calendar and never fail to give our members a fantastic opportunity to really get the most from their diving whilst having fun and interacting with amazing underwater environments from enchanting coral reefs to the mystique of a magnificent shipwreck.
Ok.... you had me at hello! How much to join this fantastic club? Considering the fun and adventure our members have we are shockingly undercharging for our membership... with a fee of just €80 a year (March to March). Family and unemployed discounts apply upon request. Furthermore your membership entitles you to 10% off shop stock (if it is not already discounted). To pay your membership fee please contact us at the dive shop. Here are a few YouTube videos of recent club dive trips to get you thinking! Donegal 2007 (a golden oldie - thanks Marty!)
